Bryan is a retired Navy Commander and aviator. The last five years of his active duty were
with the U.S. Antarctic program. For three years he was the operations officer for “Operation Deep Freeze”, the U.S. Navy’s role at the Antarctica base and his last two years as Base Commander of the U.S. facility in Christchurch, New Zealand.
During his tenure as operations officer, he would spend the "Austral" summer seasons -approximately 5 & 1/2 months each year- at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. (The U.S. main
base in Antarctica). Just a side note, he and his wife met in
Antarctica! Really, what are the odds of meeting your mate in Antarctica?
