A smile for the day

While reading the SouthWest Writers Storyteller's Anthology (2013 edition) I came upon this poem.  Now IF any of you took the leap this past year from Windows 7 to the FREE Windows 10 - I think you can relate to this poem.

CRASH by Peggy Spencer

Poor Wally's computer has gone on the blink,
He tried to upgrade it but what do you think,
The hard drive went wacko, the files disappeared,
His screen sent out sparks and the keyboard got weird.
Whenever he typed he got music, no joke,
His computer was fine, but now it's baroque.

THE WONDER OF NATURE: RACHEL CARSON

This program would be of interest to anyone interested in ecology.
Ann Beyke becomes Rachel Carson in this presentation from the New Mexico Humanities Council.

BOOK JACKET: Silent Spring "Perhaps the finest nature writer of the Twentieth Century, Rachel Carson (1907-1964) is remembered more today as the woman who challenged the notion that humans could obtain mastery over nature by chemicals, bombs and space travel than for her studies of ocean life. Her sensational book Silent Spring (1962) warned of the dangers to all natural systems from the misuse of chemical pesticides such as DDT, and questioned the scope and direction of modern science, initiated the contemporary environmental movement."

A really informative program on Apr 1

A late snow covered the mountains and it was a chilly night, I must admit, but you missed a really good program by Loretta Hall on New Mexico people and places (and chimpanzees) in the space industry.  Fascinating!  Loretta was here courtesy of the NM Historical Society. But just so you won't be totally in the dark (like in space), the library bought her book: The Complete Space Buff's Bucket List: 100 Space Things to Do before You Die
